New "How I Play": First things first

In October 2017 I started playing again with a brand new neighbourhood. The Genderswapped Uberhood by Sushigal007 at MTS: http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=522935
I love playing Pleasantview, but starting it again would have meant that I would play the same story as I did before (even if it was almost 10 years ago).
So I wanted to start playing Pleasantview, but with a difference and the Genderswapped Uberhood was just what I was looking for.
But I thought first things first: What I wanted to do before even starting the game is solving out my downloadfolder.
Things I really needed to play and things I could do without.

New "How I play": New blogpost subject

For the past 8 years I really have enjoyed creating new things for The Sims 2. Don't worry this is not an announcement for my retirement on The Sims 2 creating, but I want to put some more time in playing and less time in creating.
So I thought maybe I can write some things about me playing the game on my blog too.
You might get new ideas from the way I play.
Those blogposts will be called New "How I Play": and will have the labels How I Play - The Sims 2
I will be playing The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 sometimes too and those will get the right labels of course.

New Essential CC: Sims Work Every Day

This post is about the essential Sims Work Every Day global mod because it affects all custom and default careers at once.

Also my PTO3 versions of my custom careers and the default Maxis ones I made.

What bother's me a lot is that there are so many unpaid days off in later levels of careers. First of all CEO's or presidents work at least as much as civilians. Second when you calculate what they earn per week with their higher wages, but working only 3 days a week, their wages per week are smaller than the wage per week of a lower level sim who works 5 days a week.
So then I thought I wanted to make a career version where the sim has to work every day, but then I have +200 careers to edit. So I asked Gummilut @ MTS to help me create a global mod. And that's how I made Sims Work Every Day.
But by default a sim earns a Paid vacation day (Paid Time Off = PTO) every 7 days. So I already updated a lot of my uploaded careers and added a PTO3 and PTO5 version, but I have to update a lot more.
For me in Belgium PTO3 is most suitable if you know that we work about 220 days a year.
But then it might be possible that your sims' workdays add up really quickly if they are hard workers and go to work every day. So there's the modded object Fruit Of Life by cathair2005 @ MTS. This is the only way I know to pay out vacation days which you can see as an extra bonus.

For me this is interesting as my sims can save up a lot of vacation days so they don't need to go to work from pregnancy till the baby is nearly a child even with my Project Realistic Ages (1 simsday is 1 real month which is essential for me), but it's best to have 2 parents then.

It also makes it easier to combine a business and a job if you have Open For Business.

IMPORTANT
When a sim changes jobs, gets fired, retires,... (not promotion or demotion) the vacation days are gone. So be sure to pay out those vacations days in time.

New Babyoutfit: Togepi

On my blog you can already download clothes for YA and Adult females, but these are for babies.
Normally a baby has one outfit and the same one for every new born. (You can have default replacements but still all babies wear the same outfit.)
With this every baby can have a different outfit and you can change it as much as you like.
This is NOT A DEFAULT REPLACEMENT. Your babies can switch outfits as much as you want!


I'm not a huge fan of babies in the Sims 2. They can't do anything and the sims cannot do much with them. It's a lifestage that I always hope to go by quickly. But now they can have different outfits every day. I want to have them with my sims a little longer now.

This is actually a recolor of the mesh made by Fakepeeps7.

Mod object
You'll need Chris Hatch's mod (http://bit.ly/1dobWoV) to use these clothes (otherwise, they won't show up and your baby will just wear a diaper if you don't have any other defaults installed). All outfits are unisex. The Pets EP or higher is required to use the mod.

How to USE Chris Hatch's Plan Baby Mod:
0. Purchase the Buy Baby Outfit teddy bear. You can find it in the Kids section. It's a teddy bear and costs $49.

1. Have your parent Sim either hold their baby or put their baby on the floor. I haven't checked this with every possible combination of relatives, but an unrelated adult CANNOT get new clothes for a baby. Didn't think to check with teenagers. Somebody try it and report back?

2. With your parent Sim selected, click on the teddy bear and select "Buy Outfit For..." which should lead you to the names of all infants ant toddlers in the household. Click on a toddler's name.

3. A standard clothing-purchase window will pop up. DO NOT CLICK ANY AGE ICONS. Click on one of the gender icons instead. That's the only way to get to the baby clothes. Select and purchase baby clothes as you would normal clothes; they only cost $25 each so stock up. Hit the check-mark to buy clothes.

4. When the clothing purchase window closes, a plan outfit window will appear. So... plan your outfit.

5. If you forgot to plan your outfit, panicked and hit Close, or just want to change your baby's casual clothing for the season, buy one of the Maxis changing tables and have a parent Sim Plan Outfit For their baby as they would for a toddler.

New Idea: The School Project

I am not really happy with the schoolsystem in game. I mean they have to do homework, but except for a scolarship if they have at least A-, there's not really a point to do homework. I mean they can have A+ and earn a scolarship but have no benefit for the rest of their lives.
So I am really busy working on several (really a lot of) teen careers in which they can choose different fields of study to earn skills that can help them get a (skill) scolarship, at college and in their future careers (also when they don't go to college).
This school project is based on the school system in Belgium as I know it today. I have been to college to become a teacher in high school so I know the school system quite well.
I know the schoolsystem in other countries can be very different from the one in Belgium, but as I am creating this for my own game, I want to create it my way.

Every field of study (teen career) will focus on one or two skills, but there will be chance cards so they earn other skills too.

The scolarships that can be earned (at least 3):
So when the sim is a good student as a child (at least A-) it can apply for a scolarship when becoming a teen and before choosing one of the field of study careers because they have to change to the school "vacation" so they can go to the career in day time.

By following the field of study career, it's necessary to "promote" to level 3 in the end. For reaching level 3 in a teen career, the teen can apply for a scolarship.

When being "promoted" to level 3 in a field of study career, the teen has between 5 and 10 skillpoints for a certain skill depending on the form of education and the field of study that has been chosen.
From the moment a teen has 8 or more skillpoints of a certain skill, the teen can apply for a scolarship.



And then there's the benefit of having so many skillpoints for 1 or 2 skills when choosing a major.


It's still a lot of work to finish this school project, but as you can read I have put a lot of thought in this idea already.

New Major: Finishing School Harder

I decided to create a harder major version (no replacement) for all my custom majors.
All the skills needed were multiplied by 2. So this means that when there is default (in the custom major) 1 skillpoint needed, in this major that will be 2 skillpoints needed. (Makes it harder).

For my current and future custom majors I'll make the Easier and Harder versions. So you can choose yourself which sim can have a harder course and who can have an easier course. E.g. One campus offers the easier courses, one campus the default and one can offer the harder courses.
So one University (Neighbourhood) is easier/harder than the other.
